SPORTS NUTRITION EDUCATION
FUEL THE WORK. SUPPORT THE RECOVERY.
Training creates demands outside the weight room. What an athlete eats and drinks throughout the day can influence energy, training quality, recovery, concentration, and readiness for competition.
Sanctuary provides practical sports-nutrition education to help student-athletes better understand how fueling, hydration, recovery, and supplement decisions relate to performance and long-term development.
The goal is not to create dependence on a meal plan. It is to help the athlete understand how to make better-informed choices.

FOUR AREAS OF SPORTS NUTRITION EDUCATION
01
PERFORMANCE FUELING
Match energy intake to the work being asked of the body.
Education can cover:
Daily energy needs
Pre-training fueling
Post-training fueling
Competition preparation
Meal and snack timing
Fueling should support the work—not fight against it.
02
HYDRATION
Hydration is a performance habit, not something to think about only when you’re thirsty.
Education can include:
Daily hydration
Training hydration
Competition hydration
Electrolytes
Recognizing inadequate fluid intake
Start training hydrated—not already trying to catch up.
03
RECOVERY NUTRITION
Training provides the stimulus. Recovery helps the athlete adapt to it.
Education can cover:
Protein
Carbohydrates
Meal timing
Post-training habits
Sleep and recovery connections
Recovery is the accumulation of habits between training sessions.
04
SUPPLEMENT EDUCATION
Understand what you’re taking before deciding whether you need it.
Topics include:
Purpose
Evidence
Safety
Label awareness
Third-party testing
Credible information sources
A supplement should never replace understanding the basics.

FOOD DOESN’T NEED TO BE PERFECT TO SUPPORT PERFORMANCE.
Athletes don’t need to live on chicken, rice, vegetables, and protein shakes. They need to understand how their normal food choices fit with the demands of training and competition.
EDUCATION — NOT MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY
EDUCATION SCOPE
Sanctuary provides general sports-nutrition education around fueling, hydration, recovery, supplementation awareness, and informed decision-making.
CLINICAL REFERRAL
Individualized medical nutrition therapy, eating-disorder treatment, clinical dietary needs, and condition-specific nutrition planning should be handled by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals including Registered Dietitians when indicated.
THE GOAL ISN’T TO HAVE SOMEONE TELL YOU WHAT TO EAT FOREVER.
LONG-TERM PURPOSE
It is to understand your body’s demands well enough to make increasingly informed decisions for yourself. An athlete who understands why they fuel, hydrate, and recover a certain way is better positioned to adapt those habits as training, competition, and life change.
CORE HABITS
FUEL • HYDRATE
RECOVER • UNDERSTAND
Nutrition services are educational in nature. Individualized medical nutrition therapy and clinical dietary needs are referred to qualified healthcare professionals.
